The desert jacket

I've been thinking about getting a desert off world uniform for a while, but never looked to close on the jacket, assuming that it is a desert camo version of the standard WEP-8 jacket. But to my surprise I found that they use an other type of jacket in the early seasons. An MA-1 jacket it turns out when I look at our trusty costume guide after an evening of googeling trying to find the jacket that matches the type of arm pockets visible on some pictures.

Anyone here who have looked into when the "alternative" jacket is used?

Re: The desert jacket

Hi Dusty,
Sorry to say I have never looked into a desert uniform. Being an airsofter and not a costumer, and living in west central Florida, my uniforms have been more on the green side rather than tan, as well as fitting my airsoft need rather than being canon to the show. I can't give you a definitive answer as to when the alt. jacket is used, but my rule of thumb is if it looks right it probably is.

Re: The desert jacket

Being an archaeologist the desert uniform is more or less the default one in my mind. And we are more costumers then airsofters, my partner even work with costumes and their history, so we have turned very much to the nerdy side of things.

But I must say that I am starting to like the green WEP jacket a lot the more I use it. It is really comfortable :)

Re: The desert jacket

I recently found pictures of the MA-1 desert jacket in the show. It is from Serpents Lair (2:18) and from The Other Guy (6:?) where it is used by Felger and co.

Re: The desert jacket

The camo depicted in the pictures is the three color desert issued to replace the "chocolate chip" desert camo used during Desert Storm. I'm not sure which one I like better, like I said before, I haven't needed desert camo and unless my location changes I doubt I will.
