Re: Tactical Vests

I got a utg tactical vest in the mail today. I'm happy with it. Now I'm waiting for Velcro.

Re: Tactical Vests

Ok, I have my tactical vest, now the problem. Do you fill the pockets with rifle/pistol magazines, foam, or just leave them empty?

Re: Tactical Vests

I tend to leave mine empty.. mainly cause they don't carry them in the pouches during the show, but also, it can get a bit heavy walking around in all that gear at a con. Having said that, if your doing a Shadow Hunters uniform, then I guess the way you pack the vest would be an individual choice.

Re: Tactical Vests

I didn't think of that. I did try to wear it with empty mags and there was some heft to it. I was using M16 mags and Beretta pistol mags.

Re: Tactical Vests

For cons and such, many just leave the mag pouches empty, though there are some who do fill them with magazines and others, especially those with the Medic Vests, tend to fill them with things like first aid kit, bandages, rations from MREs, compass, etc.

Re: Tactical Vests

I've decided that when I can afford to get some tac gear that it's going to be a chest rig with molle set-up. The 1 I've picked out has a back panel with a place to put a hydration bladder. It has a look that just seems to say "spec-ops" to me and the molle would allow me to customize the load-out to my preference.

As far as loading mag pouches or not, I think loaded would look better. Just my opinion.

Re: Tactical Vests

I have 3 rigs, one black UTG vest with cross draw holster. The vest also comes with pouches that you can swap with the holster. A OD Voodoo tactical vest that has several large pockets with hydration pocket. And a Condor tactical chest rig. So I have lots of options.

Re: Tactical Vests

I can get you about any vest you need. If you need it modded for screen accurate I can do that as well... I also offer conversions for those that may not have the wallet for the real deal. Often I can get you what you need within your budget with more used items. I am willing to work as best I can with anyone budget.

Re: Tactical Vests

Yeah, I'd say that you have a few options, lucky. I'll just be happy when I can get my 1 chest rig.

Re: Tactical Vests

Just a suggestion, but Rothco makes the black ranger vest for $30, it looks great (although a little non-canon).

Re: Tactical Vests

My son had a double problem, he carries a P90 and wears tiger stripe camo. He searched high and low for the mag pouches IN TIGER STRIPE! Talk about a task, anyway we finally solved the problem of the pouch, he got some Tiger stripe material from a fabric store and I made it for him. Then after a short time he acquired a P90 box mag and sold all the mags. While not cannon, the box mag makes a lot of sense on the airsoft field. Picture to follow as soon as edited.

If you want an SGA vest, look voor "web-tex tactical vest" It's an almost dead-on clone of the Omega vest.
*edit* I just received mine and it looks fantastic!

Re: Tactical Vests

Has anyone compared The Vest Guys SG-vest with the real thing? The pockets, at least the one (of the three bigger ones) look rather big compared to the original.

Re: Tactical Vests

Dusty. A friend of mine her has the vest guy version, and while it is wrong on a lot of levels, it is still a good vest and close enough to the original....

Apart from stitch, your only other option is to buy one of the later model medic vests. They have straps, buckles and a different molle set up on the back, but all the pockets etc are the same. I've seen them for $120 on ebay

Re: Tactical Vests

I tried to order the 120 dollar modern medic vest on Amazon yesterday but it wouldn't ship to Sweden. Im thinking of getting it through someone on the US side though. Stiches vest look great, but as usual the price is a bit to much for my economy.

Hey dusty. Here's one I found on eBay. They ship world wide

It's a later model, but it'll certainly do the trick!

Re: Tactical Vests

Yes I did get an older vest through eBay mate. Took me about a year and I was very lucky to get it for the price I did.

They can go for $200/300 bucks mate... I'll keep an eye out for you.. I look under black hawk vests on the US eBay site

Re: Tactical Vests

I have looked there from time to time but have never seen one. The "First responders" vest looks quite a lot like the old vest though, if you ignore the white line on it. :?
