TV is out of storage but (1) it's old & I don't know if it survived the winter & (2) don't have TV service hooked up yet; it's just not in the budget.

Re: Falling Skies - TNT

My thoughts on the first two episodes of Season 4: (Spoilers Ahead)

The whole "ghetto camps" storyline reminds me of the New Caprica story arc from season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. The group in captivity are is divided; some working on escaping while others cutting deals to survive. Those outside the fence are also divided with some continuing the fight while others live "free" in Lexi's Garden of Eden.

I appreciate the various approaches by the Espheni to pacify the resistance: ghettos, Edens, re-education centers. They seem to be developing a better understanding of the nature of humanity. The youth groups were a nice callback to our own established history (Nazi Germany) as well as similar groups within other sci-fi franchises (the Visitor's Friends youth group from the classic V series, for example.) The big reveal showing Lexi working with an Overlord was far from surprising and is there anyone else who thinks Lourdes is still under the influence of the "eye bugs"?

Good start to the season and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Re: Falling Skies - TNT

I'm a bit disappointed with FALLING SKIES this season. (although the last ep was better than the first)

Yes, I believe Lourdes is still under the influence.

Hoping the following eps are better.

Predictions for episode 4: Weaver's daughter Jeannie has been turned into a Skitter, Cochise will rescue Matt from the Youth Re-education School and the overlord meeting with Lexi is the same overlord from Anne's dream (aka, Lexi's alien dad).

Re: Falling Skies - TNT

This last ep I saw was better... with the fence. But somehow, I feel like it's "jumped the shark"... why would Lexi have "mystical type" powers? This started out as a plain old simple alien invasion and survival show and now there is some kind of mystical powers thing going on...idk... doesn't seem right for the show.

My initial thoughts on Lexi's "powers" are that perhaps her hybrid DNA has activated a part of the human brain previously dormant. If you've seen the trailers for the new Scarlett Johanson & Morgan Freeman film [u]Lucy[\u]the title character appears to gain similar powers as more of her brain is being activated and used. Similar to the powers demonstrated by advanced humans & Ancients from SG-1.

Another theory of mine is that the Overlord is "monitoring" Lexi and creating these powerful displays using technology as a means of keeping that pocket of humans under control and out of the way. There is a strange connection between Anne and Lexi (demonstrated when Anne knew that Lexi was close by) so perhaps there is also a connection between Lexi and the Overlord. We've seen the Espheni trying multiple approaches to pacify the human resistance. Perhaps given them a "Messiah" type figure to believe in is one of their approaches, alongside the ghetto camps and re-education centers. We also don't know exactly how much contact Lexi has had with the Overlord or what's been discussed. Lexi may look like an adult but she's still rather young and potentially naive.

I've been curious about the significance of the moon. It was featured in several shots from the first 3 episodes and Lexi seemed fascinated with the beam of moonlight. Hmm...

Re: Falling Skies - TNT

Well, religion has always been used to pacify and control the population...so using a Lexi in that way does make sense. It just bothers me that the show took that turn. (but maybe i'll get use to it)

I haven't watched last nights ep yet so I'll comment more after I do.

Checking in on my predictions:
Jeannie was turned into a Skitter hybrid... Check!
Cochise tried to help rescue Matt, but was attacked by Jeannie Skitter... Wrong!
The Overlord Lexi is meeting with is her alien dad... Check!

Random Thoughts:
I guess it's not technology that's giving Lexi her powers but the strange human-Espheni DNA and now it looks like she might be undergoing a metamorphosis next week. Will she come out looking human or Overlord? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Aaron Douglas was outstanding in this past week's episode. Missed seeing him onscreen since BSG went off the air. I also loved the moments between Matt and Weaver. Weaver's certainly softened over the series and provides another father figure for Matt to look up to. Tom's use of psychology on Douglas' character was also nice to see as it continues to show his growth as a leader and strategist.

Something I think we've neglected to talk about is the performance of Colin Cunningham as Pope. It's still odd to see him playing a rogue after playing the straight-laced Maj. Davis on SG-1 for so long. Seems Pope may have found a potential love interest and equal in that farmhouse.

The way Aaron kept pushing this ep on FB I kind of thought he'd have a bigger role...but that's my fault...I should have realized.

Re: Falling Skies - TNT

I am a few years to late, but we recently picked up a complete box of Falling Skies and have watched the two first seasons so far. A good show so far I think. It had a few not so good scenes, like Mason hitting that ship, but on the whole entertaining in a good post-apocalysy way. A big positive thing, for me at least, is all the location scenes in this day and age where everything usually is CGI. The arrival in Charleston was an interesting way to go. I hope season three is as good as the earlier.
