Threads 8:18

We are currently watching season 8 and recently watched the episode Threads (818). That episode is a strange one I must say. Its both good and a bit all over the place ... :?

I just read on the Gateworld site that the episode was originally aired as a 90 minutes special episode, but the one on my DVD is an ordinary 42 minutes which might explain why it feels like such a mess of storylines bundled together.

Why on earth end all these story lines in one episode? We have the Anubis thread, we have a secret Jack relationship, we have Sams Pete thread, we have the Oma thread, the Daniels "dead" one, we have the Jacob/Selmac thread (poor Sam having all those things happening at the same time), the Jaffa rebellion one and so on. All in one episode, Great Scot Batman! Perhaps I should listen to the commentaries to see if someone mentions why they needed to make such a clean sweep storywise. After all, most of those storylines would have been stuff for an episode in their own right.

So in short, I have trouble deciding if its a good episode or not. So much good things happen (both storywise and characterwise) and we get to know a lot of stuff but the way it is all put together make it feel rushed. What do you guys think?

Re: Threads 8:18

A lot of SG1 goodness ahead of you then. :)

We're currently on the last episodes of season 9. A rather uneven season I'd say, but it has Claudia Black so I'm not complaining.

Re: Threads 8:18

I've just gotten into season 9 and have watched the first 4 episodes. I liked Claudia in Farscape and like seeing the little nods they did towards her Peacekeeper persona(black leather, a pulse pistol lookalike).
