Stargate Origins

So it seems that we finally get some new Star Gate contents, with the 10 episode webseries Star Gate Origins. It is centered around young Catherine Langford. I am a bit of two minds about it all as it is always fun with SG material, but a 10 min episode web series sounds somewhat PR stunty. Any one here who have looked into it some more? Shall we make an own area for it here in the SG discussion area?

It premier on Feb 15. Here is a link to MGM's Stargate Command with trailers and stuff.

Re: Stargate Origins

Let's retain this as the thread for talking about the web series. Yeah - it doesn't make much sense to make them so short. Then again by the time you cut out all the commercials the American networks throw in, it cuts the actual episode to about 35-45 minutes depending on the network.

This is supposed to fill in the back story but good grief it's almost a waste of time & money for MGM to make each episode so short. The only reason I can think of is for teasing a reboot of, another movie, or adding a new series in the franchise.

Yes indeed. Maybe they shoot all of it in one go and just air them cut into short fragments? I hope you are right about the teasing part, and that the webisodes are good enough to generate some interest. I know they did something similar with the Babylon 5 franchise some years back. Made two shortstories and sold them on DVD to see if there was interest still among the fans. But in a very self fulfilling prophecy kind of way the budget was so small that not even the hard core fans (like me) were more than moderately enthusiastic. So nothing more came of it sadly. The new CGI was great though ... *sigh*

So if it is a teaser to measure the fan interest I hope they put some money and effort in to it.
