Babylon 5

Babylon 5 is a classic these days and even though Sheldon doesn't like it I have been distracted from Stargate recently by an other rewatch of this excellent show. Which I can talk about to no end so I'll just say that I am still very much impressed by it. For one thing, they did manage to make the ships interesting, culture specific and look functional. :D

And some bad news, Michael O'Hare who played Sinclair seems to have suffered a heart attack yesterday which he didn't recover from. Sad news. I know many people dont like the Sinclair character but I do.

Mine as well.

Sure the Sinclair acting felt a little wooden sometimes, but he was a different take on the classic "captain" role which I like a lot. I also liked the, shall we say, melancholy of the first season. Especially as a contrast against the perkiness of Sheridan and the different feel of season 2.

Re: Babylon 5

Bab 5 always reminded me of the Sector General series of books written by James White. While Sector General was a multi-species, multi-environment hospital, the problems of humans interacting with other species are very similar. I liked both story lines very much.

Re: Babylon 5

Sector Generals series? Never heard about it? An sf hospital series sounds interesting.

Re: Babylon 5

Sorry I got the author wrong, it's James White, ( Robb White is another favorite author )

Here are the titles in the series:
Hospital Station
Star Surgeon
Major Operation
Ambulance Ship
Sector General
Star Healer
Code Blue - Emergency
The Galactic Gourmet
Final Diagnosis
Mind Changer
Double Contact

There are twelve books in the series written from 1962 to 1999. Hospital Station is the first and Double Contact is the last. The 11 above are the books in the series I have been able to find over the years, never could find Number 12 or what the title was.
