Re: Terra Nova - Fox

Watched the 2hr season finale and while I was originally disappointed in that they didn't show the actual events of the PMCs arrival and assualt on the colony, I do think that the show did rather well. I did like the twists and turns and next session should be interesting to see what develops... apparently there's been some level of contact with the world before... and events will unfold to include the importance of the "Badlands".

At the end of the show when we got to see the "ship's maiden" Lady Blue and I both thought of the Bermuda Triangle. Now that would be a neat connection to our reality if that were to be the case.

Yes, it's me again...but guess what? I LOVED the season finale!!! Once you've recovered from your shock, let me just say that the premiere and the finale were fantastic television and give me hope for the next season. I think they laid some eggs in between trying to set up the characters and plot, but this show can rock.

The first thing I thought when we saw the ship's figurehead was LOST. :)

Loved it! Loved the surprise at the end! Especially loved the T-Rex! That guy telling the one to go the other way so the T-Rex gets distraction was hilarious!

Looks like good news is on the way for "Terra Nova."

The highly anticipated Fox series (which unfortunately could not turn that hype into viewers) could get a second chance to continue. But then again, this could just be Fox's way to give itself a little more time to make a decision.

The options on contracts from stars Jason O'Mara and Stephen Lang, who play Sheriff Jim Shannon and Cmdr. Nathaniel Taylor, were due to expire next week. But Fox intends to pick up those options, according to Deadline.com. Although that is room for optimism, it could just be a cheaper way to allow the network to push a final decision to January, after the options would've normally expired.

An option pickup does not necessarily mean the network would have to pay the actors for a full season. However, if there is not a second season renewal, Fox would have to pay a nominal penalty to anyone who had their options exercised, since it prevented them from picking up other projects.

Will Fox pick up the series for Season 2? That's a good question. "Terra Nova" averaged a 4.6 rating/7 share, according to Fast National overnight ratings from The Nielsen Co., in its regular Monday timeslot. Not only was that below network expectations, but it also finished a full ratings point behind what Fox did in that timeslot the year before -- an 18 percent drop.

Two episodes did air in the 9 p.m. slot currently held by "House," the series premiere and the season finale, but even there, the show's problems are easily seen. "Terra Nova" premiered at 9 p.m. with a 5.5/8 on Sept. 26, but fell 25 percent by the time its season finale aired Dec. 19.

Through the end of November, "Terra Nova" was Fox's third highest-rated show behind "The X Factor" and "Bones," and was ranked No. 39 overall. However, when numbers are updated at the end of this month, "Terra Nova" likely will fall a bit further in overall rankings since it was averaging a 4.9/7 at the time, and will now finish its first season with a 4.7/7.

A January decision could make things difficult for the "Terra Nova" crew. Filming has to start in April to meet a fall premiere date. That would give the writers just a couple months to break stories and start getting scripts together.

"Terra Nova" was created by Craig Silverstein and up-and-coming script editor Kelly Marcel. Silverstein also created the short-lived series "Standoff" in 2006 starring Ron Livingston and Gina Torres. He also developed The CW series "Nikita."

Steven Spielberg is an executive producer of the show, as well as former "Star Trek: Voyager" showrunner Brannon Braga who runs things on "Terra Nova."

Well I for one truly hope that Terra Nova is able to quickly announce a 2nd season is approved and in the works. We've all seen to many good ScoFi shows disappear on us.

I'm also hopefull for Terra Nova's continuation. It surely got deeper and more intricate towards the end, I'd hate to be left hanging.

Re: Terra Nova - Fox

I read that Netflix is looking at picking it up for new episodes like they did with Arrested Development. I don't think they'll do it though as this show is lots more expensive to produce than AD.

Well I finally finished Terra Nova. I thought that over all it was a good show. I wish it had gone on longer to explain the significance of the"bad Lands". Overall the gets two thumbs up.
