I'm wondering who else here plays Warhammer 40k. Just getting started with Space Marines (first time player).

Re: warhammer 40k

Sean & I play when we have time. It's been awhile though. He does Space Marines as Space Wolves. I do Imperial Guard & Orks. As I say that's when we have time. Sean also has the computer game based on 40K - Dawn of War.

Re: warhammer 40k

I had tried Warhammer 40k with my brother-in-laws gaming group years ago. We did several sessions, but just never really got into it. I ran some Space Marines.

Space Marines are cool I rolled them a couple years ago. I would have to dig out all my stuff again to play again.

Re: warhammer 40k

would testors paints work in place of the citadel paints? i've got them left over from some the F4 that i'm still in the middle of building. dawn of war was an awesome game, but then had to do a restore and lost it.

Re: warhammer 40k

I'd say almost any paint will do, as long as they are not to oily-based and melts the plastic figures.

I played a lot of Warhammer, both 40k and Fantasy in high school and while I was at university but unfortunately these days I dont have the room. Played Space Wolfs in 40k and a Khorne/Nurgle army in fantasy. Nowadays we mostly play Blood Bowl or Space Hulk if we play Gamesworkshop games.

Re: warhammer 40k

I know at ShoreLeave there's a couple people who always play. One of my coworkers finally convinced me to start. It's definitely an investment though. But it looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

Re: warhammer 40k

It's a lot of fun indeed. But for some reason I have always liked the painting and building terrain part a little more.

Re: warhammer 40k

Tried building terrain, didn't work out so well. But I did have fun conceptualizing what it was I would like to build. My Paint schemes were very simple.

Re: warhammer 40k

time for mash-ups: battletech elemental vs space marine, who'd win? i would have to say elementals. single elemental has far more armaments than a single space marine.

Re: warhammer 40k

But those pesky Marines always seems to bring their friends. You can be sure that if you find one, even if you stomp it right away, the whole picknick will soon be ruined.

Re: warhammer 40k

true, but elementals also have big brothers. swarm by numbers will unfortunately always win any battle. as evidenced by zerg and tyranids.

on a seperate note: i hear rumor of 6th ed rule book/codexes coming out at some point during the summer. can anybody confirm or refute?

Alas, I have no idea. Have not been up to date with the Games Workshop things for a while now.
