Re: is there...

Military related topics have usually been posted here in the General Discussion area, though we've also seen various weapons systems occassionally posted in SG Operations Armory. If there is a need, I can look into setting up a new area.

Re: is there...

I was only inquiring as I am a great supporter of our military service personnel, I like to show such support in posting when I can about current informational happenings where our men and women are involved, to post remembrances of our fallen, tributes and other ways to show and say "thank you" to those that are serving.
I come from a family that on both sides are several generations military, my fathers side, are American, served here during WW2, korea, nam, and alot of peace keeping actions, before that, military in the US, WW2 back before 1775.
I don't have all the info, but, only need to go on myfamily.com and ask.
:D
we have a very rich family history.

This is to gauge interest

this is to guage interest.
I would like to see a "thank a soldier" thread here for members who have and are serving their country.

Hmm, not sure what you mean, so could you eleborate as there are already two other threads in the section dedicated to honoring those who serve and/or those who haven paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Re: This is to gauge interest

I was thinking of some way to honor our member soldiers here, some kind of virtual wall of honor for our members who have served, who are serving, to thank them.
the initiating and first post would be updated by board moderator with new names.
I only know about the post I made on SG-TRU.
I don't know, I just wanted to do something for our soldiers, to let them know how much they mean to us, how proud we are, how much we need them, need them to come home safe.
something from us, here.....
there can not be enough done to show how much we appreciate them, I would take their place if I could....

sorry, just memories.

Re: This is to gauge interest

I thought we could combine the other 2 threads into one.
I guess I just feel a need to do something, something more.

Re: is there... interest in a military related discussion area?

Personally, being a veteran myself, I'd rather we didn't mix real-life military and fictional military on one forum. This is a club based on a TV show and I'm here to interact with it, not relive my military days.

No disrespect intended, for I have great respect for past, present and future military personnel, but there are other websites specifically dedicated to what we're discussing here.

These are my opinions, they need not go any further nor be the subject for debate. Peace to all :)

Re: is there... interest in a military related discussion area?

In fact, I belong to one of the military oriented forums. They are mostly into historic research & helping people track down information that points them in the right direction to find more info about relatives who served or campaigns they were in. They also work with costumers & fellow historians obtain accurate info. You don't have to be military or former military to join. While they don't have a wall of honor or anything like what Ranger_1 has mentioned, they do respect the sacrifices of the military of all periods in history.

If anybody's interested, send me a PM & I'll send you the link to the site. I don't post often & check it once in awhile for informational posts about Revolutionary War battles in northern New York & New England.

Re: is there... interest in a military related discussion area?

I have to agree with Auggie.
I myself am a 20 year Veteran, and the last thing I want to do on my "down" time is rehash the horrors of War. I have shipmates that I can do that with and usually with a lot of beer....
No disrespect intended, but I visit here to read and hear about the shows that I have a real compassion for, along with information on cons and events that I hope to someday attend. And I commend and appreciate your thoughtfulness, I just don't think this is the place for it.
